My kids’ father only knows how to control them through fear…how to deal?
If we are in the car, and the kids start to quarrel over a toy (as kids sometimes do), his answer is to take whatever they are fighting over and throw it out the window! He has done this quite a few times….the other day they were fighting over MY cd case…guess what happened next!! Luckily I was able to safely retrieve it. I bought a snow cone maker for our daughter’s 4th birthday today, and they really wanted one and were bugging me about it. Rather than deal with them, he threatened to make them watch him run over it with his truck. And when I called him on it, he said that he “said it because that’s the only way to get them to quit whining, since I (meaning me) can’t control them” . How childish!! I didn’t realize that it was solely MY responsibility to control them.

What a surprise that a man would have such a wonderful excuse for destroying something ( You don’t know how to control them ) well guess what no one should control ANYONE!! You don’t have to threaten and damage things to get a point across. He needs serious help if he feels that this is the best why to handle children or anyone for that matter. Fear only goes so far with anyone. simply taking the toy away from both of your children until they learned how to share it would be sufficient. This leads me to believe he has somewhat of and anger issue. all this talk about control and damaging property has me Little concerned, he fits the profile of someone who can not control him self. Be careful PS. children wine all the time nothing new it’s been like that for ever if he can’t handle it he shouldn’t have had them!!!!
